Why the Lion?
In the early stages of our church planting effort, we sought a symbol that would be easily recognizable and set us apart from other churches in Salina. We wanted something that not only reflected our unique identity but also honored our roots and expressed our values.

If you’re familiar with our mother church in Manhattan, you’ll notice strong similarities between our lion and their rooster. These design choices were intentional. We wanted to visually reflect our connection to Manhattan Presbyterian Church, showing where we came from and affirming the shared mission we carry forward to reach Kansas and the world with the Gospel.

We also looked further back, to our denominational heritage. The Westminster crest, a historic emblem of our tradition, prominently features lions.

But most importantly, the lion is a deeply biblical symbol—representing Christ as the “Lion of Judah.” When you see the Salina Lion, you’re seeing more than a graphic. You're seeing a layered story: our beginnings in Manhattan, our roots in the Reformed tradition, and above all, a focus on Christ himself.
